The Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act is now moving to the Senate for consideration. Last week the bill was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives.
What is PCHETA?
PCHETA is aimed mainly to promote education and research in hospice and palliative care. It will also increase the number of palliative care professionals and put in place a campaign to educate the public on its benefits.
How does this benefit me?
The demand for hospice and palliative care professionals is projected to increase drastically due to America’s aging population. Your hospice will most likely have all rooms occupied at all times. Staff are needed to service all of these patients. If more awareness is brought to hospice and palliative care, more people may choose it as a career path. Your hospice will not be able to grow if there is not enough staff to support it.
